RICS Science Day

RICS celebrated our Science Day 2009 on the 9th Oct. with the theme "Go Green, Save the Earth". It was a day of great excitement as we had the opportunity to experience and celebrate the love Science in a practical and application based way. It was GREAT FUN !

The day started with the Junior College 2 (JC2) students sharing about their community involvement project at the Sidoarjo Mudflow Area in Surabaya. It was touching to see our students actively involved in making a difference in the lives of those afflicted by this tragedy. The JC2 students also shared their Tissue Culture Programme with the Institute of Technology Bandung.

After the presentations, we all had to opportunity to be involved in a multitude of science experiments. There were groups designing parachutes, making ice cream, hand sanitizer lotions and airplanes, where our knowledge of scientific principles were put to the test. The students were actively engaged and really enjoyed these hands-on activities

The highlight of the day was perhaps the ECO FASHION SHOW, where every class exhibited their creativity and fashion sense by modeling their creations which were made up of recycled materials. Sacks, old bedsheets, recycled paper and umbrellas were put to good use and given a new lease of life.

This year's Science Day was indeed a day to remember. The excitement, energy and enthusiasm of the school was truly amazing as we celebrated Science and were reminded of our roles to "Go Green and Save the Planet."
