"Habitat for Humanity" is RICS' adopted charity for 2009-10

Having a heart for the less fortunate and reaching out to them has always been a key facet of education at RICS. For the academic year 2009-10, the school community is committed to working with our adopted charity "Habitat for Humanity" to restore housing to the quake stricken areas in Indonesia.

Habitat For Humanity International (HFHI), generally referred to as Habitat for Humanity or simply Habitat, is an international, ecumenical Christian, non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to building "simple, decent, and affordable" housing. Homes are built using volunteer labor and are sold at no profit. Former US President, Mr Jimmy Carter has been an active participant of this movement.

RICS students and teachers have been active volunteers in organizing fund raising events to fund the purchase of building materials for these houses and also in personally building these shelters.
